Fitz of Depression was an American punk rock band from Olympia, Washington, formed in 1987 by Mike Dees on vocals and guitar, Jim Koontz on bass guitar, and Craig Becker on drums. Their early releases included the single "The Awakening" on Meat Records in 1991. The band's debut album, Fitz of Depression, was released in 1993, followed by Let’s Give it a Twist in 1994 under K Records. In April 1995, they recorded a session for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show at Maida Vale Studios. Their third album, Swing, was released in 1996. The band disbanded in 1997 before any releases with Warner Bros.. Fitz of Depression reunited briefly in 2000 for a tour with Bad Brains and again in 2002 for live shows. Mike Dees passed away on June 4, 2019, at the age of 48.
