Peggy King, born on February 16, 1930, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, is an American jazz singer and actress. She began her career as a member of big bands led by Charlie Spivak, Ralph Flanagan, and Ray Anthony. In 1952, King signed with MGM Records, which led to a singing cameo in the film The Bad and the Beautiful and a series of commercial jingles for Hunt's tomato sauce. This brought her to the attention of Mitch Miller at Columbia Records, who signed her to a long-term contract. Under this deal, she released albums including Girl Meets Boy (1955) and Wish Upon a Star (1956), along with hit singles like "Make Yourself Comfortable" (1954). King sang the Oscar-nominated song "Count Your Blessings" on the 1955 Academy Awards telecast. She was named Best New Singer of 1955–56 by both Billboard and Down Beat magazine. Other notable albums include Lazy Afternoon (1959).
