Frances Helen Allison, known professionally as Fran Allison, born on November 20, 1907, in La Porte City, Iowa, was an American television and radio comedienne, personality, and singer. She began her career as a teacher before transitioning to broadcasting at the WMT radio station in Cedar Rapids. Her breakthrough came when she moved to Chicago and joined NBC Radio in 1937. In 1947, Allison starred in the television puppet show Kukla, Fran and Ollie, which aired until 1957. Her recording of "Peter Cottontail" charted at number 26 around Easter of 1950. The following year, her recording of "Too Young" reached number 20. She was backed by Jack Fascinato on both recordings. Allison was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1950 and won two Chicago Emmy awards in 1959. She released several singles, including "Light in the Window / And Then I Prayed" (1951) and "The Ballad of Bridey Murphy" (1956). She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fran Allison passed away on June 13, 1989, at the age of 81.
