Emil Dimitrov, born on December 23, 1940, in Pleven, Kingdom of Bulgaria, was a Bulgarian singer and composer known for his contributions to pop and chanson music. His career began in 1962 with the release of the song "Arlekino", which won third place at the Sopot International Song Festival. He released his debut studio album Изпълнения на Емил Димитров in 1965, which featured the song "Песен за моята майка". In 1970, Dimitrov signed with EMI Pathé-Marconi, releasing his first French-language single "L'amour c'est toi". His song "Моя страна, моя България" became a significant hit, selling over 500,000 copies in Germany and 100,000 in Belgium. Despite initial censorship in Bulgaria, it is considered an unofficial national anthem. Throughout his career, Dimitrov released numerous albums, featuring Само един живот in 1982. He composed over 280 songs out of his 400-song repertoire. Dimitrov died on March 30, 2005.
