Scarve, a French death metal band from Nancy, Lorraine, was formed in 1993 when Patrick Martin and Dirk Verbeuren began playing extreme metal influenced by groups such as Death and Coroner. The group released their first demo, Scarve, followed by the EP Six Tears of Sorrow in 1997. In 2000, Scarve signed with Furtive Records and War Music for the release of their debut album, Translucence. Their second album, Luminiferous, was released in 2002 under Listenable Records and featured collaborations with Meshuggah's Fredrik Thordendal. The band embarked on extensive European tours supporting acts like Behemoth and Gojira. In 2004, Scarve released their third album, Irradiant, which received critical acclaim and was supported by a tour with Meshuggah. Their final album, The Undercurrent, was released in 2007 amidst internal changes including the departure of key members Guillaume Bideau and Pierrick Valence. The band's activity ceased in 2009.
