General Surgery was a Swedish grindcore band formed in 1989 in Stockholm. The group initially consisted of Richard Cabeza on vocals, Joacim "Jocke" Carlsson on guitar, Matti Kärki on bass, and Mats Nordrup on drums. Their early releases included the demos Erosive Offals and Pestisferous Anthropophagia, recorded and released in 1990. After several lineup changes, including the departure of Cabeza and the addition of Grant McWilliams as the new vocalist, General Surgery released their debut EP, Necrology, in 1991 through Relapse Records. The band went on hiatus but reformed in 1999, releasing splits with other grindcore acts and experiencing further lineup changes. Their first full-length album, Left Hand Pathology, was released in 2006 via Listenable Records. In 2009, they released their second studio album, Corpus in Extremis - Analysing Necrocriticism.
