The Harvard University Choir, commonly known as the University Choir or UChoir, is a professional choir based at Harvard University. The choir's history dated back to the 18th century, with formal recognition coming in 1834. Under John Knowles Paine, who became the first University Organist and Choirmaster in 1862, the choir transitioned into a professional performance group. The choir's annual Christmas Carol services, founded in 1910 by Archibald T. Davison, have been among the longest continually running services of their kind in the United States. Under Edward Elwyn Jones' directorship, which began in 2004, the choir has released albums such as Rorem: Choral and Organ Works (2006) and Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day (2006), and has toured internationally.
