Renato Abate, known professionally as Garbo, is an Italian singer-songwriter and record producer. He debuted in 1981 with the album A Berlino... Va Bene, influenced by David Bowie's Berlin Trilogy. The title track "A Berlino...Va Bene" received critical acclaim. Garbo's breakthrough came in 1984 with the song "Radioclima," which won the Critics Jury Award at the Sanremo Music Festival. He returned to Sanremo the following year with "Cose Veloci." In 1993, he founded his own record label, Discipline. In 2006, a tribute album titled Congarbo featured covers of his popular songs by notable Italian independent musicians.
