Rotterdam Termination Source, formed in the Netherlands in 1992, originated from the collaboration of Maurice Steenbergen and Danny Scholte, both producers of the emerging gabber and hardcore scene. Their breakthrough came with the single "Poing!" released on Rotterdam Records in 1992, which achieved chart positions in the Netherlands and Belgium and reached Number 27 on the UK Singles Chart, establishing the group as a prominent force in hardcore techno. The follow‑up single "Merry X‑Mess" entered the UK charts at Number 73 in 1993, further consolidating their presence. After Danny Scholte departed, Maurice Steenbergen re‑formed the group in 2005 with Guido Pernet of Human Resource, a partnership that linked Rotterdam Termination Source to the broader European hardcore community. The group contributed to the Rotterdam Records compilation Rotterdam Records 15 jaar + 1 Feest in 2008, celebrating the label’s fifteenth anniversary.
