Lucília Nunes de Ascensão do Carmo, known as Lucília do Carmo, was born on November 4, 1919, in Portalegre, Portugal. She began her career as a fado singer at the age of 17, debuting at Retiro da Severa in 1936. Her early performances quickly gained recognition, leading to appearances on radio programs such as Emissora Nacional and Rádio Graça. In 1947, she opened Adega da Lucília (later renamed O Faia) with her husband Alfredo de Almeida, which became a prominent venue for fado performances in Bairro Alto. Notable singers like Alfredo Marceneiro and Carlos Ramos performed there. Her discography includes hits such as "Leio em teus olhos" and "Maria Madalena". In the 1980s, she withdrew from artistic life but remains remembered as a significant figure in fado corrido. Lucília do Carmo passed away on November 19, 1998.
