Françoise Atlan, born on July 27, 1964, in Narbonne, France, is a French singer of Sephardic Jewish heritage. She began her musical education at age six, studying piano with her mother and later earning degrees from the Saint-Étienne and Aix-en-Provence conservatories. Her career breakthrough came with her debut album Romances Sefardies in 1992, which received critical acclaim. Atlan's work spans various genres, including Sephardic romances, medieval European repertoire, and traditional Andalusian Arabic music. She has collaborated with notable artists such as Juan Carmona and the Ensemble Gilles Binchois. Her album Entre la Rose et le Jasmin won the "Diapason d'Or" in 1994. Atlan's performances have taken her to stages worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Festival d'Ambronay. She has also been recognized for her contributions to intercultural music, performing with the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra during Pope Francis' visit to Morocco on March 30, 2018.
