Mah Sissoko, also known as Mah Damba, born in Bamako, Mali, in 1965, is a Malian singer. Raised in the tradition of Mandingue music, she began performing at weddings and other ceremonies from a young age. Mah Damba joined the ensemble led by Kassemady Diabaté before embarking on a tour with her husband, Mamaye Kouyaté, in Côte d'Ivoire. In the early 1980s, they moved to France, where she continued her griot role within the Malian community and joined the group Mandé Foly. Her solo career began with acoustic performances featuring traditional instruments like the balafon, kora, and n'goni. Mah Damba's powerful voice captivated European audiences, leading to numerous festival appearances. She released several albums, including Nyarela (1997) with Mamaye Kouyaté et son Ensemble, and Djelimousso (Mali - La Voix Du Mandingue) (2000).
