X Clan is an American hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1989 by Brother J, Professor X, Paradise, and Sugar Shaft. Known for their Afrocentrism and militant activism within the Blackwatch movement, they released the debut album To the East, Blackwards (1990), which peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Their follow-up album, Xodus (1992), reached the same chart position. Notable singles include "Raise the Flag / Heed the Word of the Brother" (1989) and "Fire & Earth (100% Natural)" (1991). After a break-up, they reunited in the late 1990s and later released Return from Mecca (2007) and Mainstream Outlawz (2009).
