From birth in a Cape Town (South Africa) shantytown to the opera stages of the world, this is the destiny of soprano Pumeza (born Pumeza Matshikiza in 1979). Saved from poverty by her voice and hard work, the singer trained at Europe's top music schools and made her debut at the Edinburgh Festival in 2010. A resident of the Stuttgart Opera, she sang at the wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2011 and at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Her first Voice of Hope recital, released in 2014 (the following year in France), plumes traditional and popular arias with Puccini and Mozart.
