Hyung-Ki Joo, born in 1973 in England to South Korean parents, is a British pianist and composer. He began his formal training at the Yehudi Menuhin School under Peter Norris and Seta Tanyel. Joo later earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music, studying with Nina Svetlanova. His breakthrough moment came when Yehudi Menuhin chose him to perform as a soloist for his eightieth birthday concert at the Barbican Hall in London. In 2001, Joo released Fantasies & Delusions, an album featuring classical piano pieces arranged and recorded by Billy Joel, which reached Number 1 on the Billboard album chart for 18 weeks. He has collaborated with notable conductors such as Sergiu Comissiona and Andrey Andreev, and founded the piano trio Dimension in 2001. Joo is also known for integrating comedy with classical music, co-creating shows like A Little Nightmare Music with Aleksey Igudesman.
