María Teresa Enriqueta Jiménez Chabolla, known professionally as "La Prieta Linda", was born on July 4, 1933, in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico. She began her musical journey at a young age and started performing with a mariachi group at 14. In 1950, she formed the duo Las Flores with her sister Flor Silvestre, releasing their first songs "Los Desvelados" and "Lo Traigo en la Sangre". La Prieta Linda signed with Discos Peerless in 1954 and released notable hits such as "Celosa" and "El Quihúbole". In the 1960s, she transitioned to RCA Víctor. She also ventured into acting, appearing in films like Valente Quintero (1973). La Prieta Linda received numerous accolades, including three Discos de Oro de Hollywood and two Golden Globes for Best Latin Music Performer. She passed away on September 21, 2021, at the age of 88.
