Hugo Siegmeth, born on May 25, 1970 in Arad, Romania, is a German saxophonist and composer known for his work in modern jazz. He migrated to Germany with his family in 1976 and studied saxophone at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium from 1994 to 1999 under Leszek Zadlo. Siegmeth's early career included performances with notable musicians such as Al Porcino, Clark Terry, Claudio Roditi, and Peter Herbolzheimer. His breakthrough came in the autumn of 2000 when he toured with his own band and released his debut album Red Onions on his label Village Pond Records. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various ensembles including the Munich Composers and Improvisors Ensemble, ZollSoung Chamber Orchestra, and Ensemble Sarband. Siegmeth's notable works include the soundtrack for the film "Mörderischer Frieden" (2007). He has won several awards including the Bayerischen Jazzförderpreis in 1998.
