Christoph Hammer, born on June 12, 1966, in Ensdorf, Germany, is a notable fortepiano player and conductor. He began his musical education with piano lessons under Konrad Pfeiffer and organ training with Norbert Düchtel in Regensburg. In 1985, he graduated from the Max Reger Gymnasium in Amberg. In 1989, he started focusing on historical keyboard instruments, particularly the fortepiano. He has since gained international recognition as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with ensembles such as Concerto Köln and L’Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, and vocalists like Emma Kirkby and Martin Bruns. In 1992, Hammer founded the Neue Hofkapelle München (Munich Court Orchestra). He has also conducted operas, including Jean-Philippe Rameau's Dardanus at the Stadttheater Passau in 2004 and Claudio Monteverdi's L’Orfeo at the Landestheater Linz in 2005. His discography includes notable releases such as Claras Clavier : Erinnerungen (2001) and Augsburger Claviermusik (2023).
