Hangedup was an experimental rock duo from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, formed in 1999. The group consisted of Genevieve Heistek on viola and Eric Craven on drums and percussion. Prior to forming Hangedup, both members were involved in various other projects; Heistek with bands like Sackville and Set Fire to Flames, and Craven with Shortwave and Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band. Their debut album, Hangedup, was released in 2001 via Constellation Records. In 2002, they followed up with Kicker In Tow. Hangedup's third studio album, Clatter for Control, came out in 2005. The duo performed extensively worldwide, including notable appearances at Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival in 2003 and England's All Tomorrow's Parties: Nightmare Before Christmas in December 2010.
