The Rumour Said Fire is a Danish indie folk band formed in 2008 in Copenhagen by singer and songwriter Jesper Lidang. The group held its first performance in May 2008 and gained professional momentum in 2009 by opening for Passion Pit. The ensemble released the debut single “Evil Son” in August 2009, followed by the EP The Life and Death of a Male Body. Their breakthrough single, “The Balcony”, achieved widespread commercial success in Denmark and led to the group winning the P3 Guld prize for P3 Talent in 2009. The band released their debut studio album, The Arrogant, in October 2010, featuring the single “Sentimentally Falling”. Subsequent releases included the 2012 album Dead Ends and 2017’s Crush. Throughout their career, the ensemble performed at major events such as the Roskilde Festival. In 2025, Lidang and the group released the studio album Lyset mit navn, preceded by the single “Hvor vandet kalder”.
