Hortense Cartier-Bresson is a French pianist and professor of classical music at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. She studied piano at the Paris Conservatory, where she obtained five 1st prizes in piano, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, and accompaniment before entering the advanced piano program. In 1979, she met György Sebök and went on to study with him at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. In 1981, she won 3rd prize at the Liszt-Bartók Competition in Budapest. She later served as artistic director of the Musique à l’Abbaye de La Prée chamber music festival and taught at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Boulogne-Billancourt before being appointed professor at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 2011.
