J.A.R. (Jednotka Akademického Rapu), a Czech funk, rock, and hip hop band, was formed on November 17, 1989, in Prague by vocalist and keyboardist Roman Holý, along with rappers Oto Klempíř and Michael Viktořík. Their early albums Frtka (1992) and Mydli-to! (1994) established their rock foundation. In 1997, singer Dan Bárta joined them for Mein Kampfunk (1997), marking a shift towards incorporating funk elements with the addition of a brass section. By 1999, they had expanded to ten members and released Homo Fonkianz (1999) along with their first video album V deseti letí desetiletím (1999). They released albums including Nervák (2002), Armáda špásu (2006), and Dlouhohrající děcka (2011).
