Twins is a Hong Kong Cantopop duo created by Emperor Entertainment Group in 2001. Comprising Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung, the pair was spotted by EEG manager Mani Fok after their stints in part-time modeling and Choi's fame from the TV show Y2K. Intending to replicate the success of Japan's KinKi Kids, Twins debuted in August 2001 with their eponymous EP featuring the hit "Open Love, Secret Love, Tutoring Institute," which quickly went platinum. The duo would go on to attain widespread recognition through albums like 2002's Our Souvenir and Amazing Album, followed by their first-ever concert later that year. By 2003, Twins had accumulated a staggering 72 awards, becoming one of the leading exponents of the Cantopop scene. The duo also ventured into children's music with Singing in the Twins Wonderland series and continued to innovate with LPs such as Magic (2004) and Girl Power (2005). Despite rumors of a split in 2005, Twins continued strong with more albums—2005's Samba and The Missing Piece—and their significant win at the MTV Asia Awards in 2006. Their North American tour in 2007 marked their international expansion, further solidifying their status with the Twins Party album, which featured two additional solo versions by each member. However, the duo went on a temporary hiatus following Gillian Chung's involvement in Edison Chen's photo scandal. Twins made a triumphant return in 2010, performing together after two years apart. Their comeback was celebrated with the release of the Mandarin album 3650, celebrating their tenth anniversary in the music industry. Following a brief focus on solo careers, Twins reunited for significant performances in late 2015 and early 2016 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. In 2017, Choi and Chung returned with the mini-album Flower Date. The standalone single "Little Woman" followed in 2021. An EP titled WE ARE TWINS came out in 2024, with its lead single "Dreams and Dreams" peaking at number 15 on the Cantonese Top 50.
