Neue Generation was a German rock band formed in 1976. The original lineup consisted of Petko Datschew, Heinz-Jürgen Gottschalk, Axel Donner, Michael Behm, Hans-Joachim Schweda, and Wolfram Kobischke. The group’s musical style was characterized as slower and more subtle compared to contemporary rock acts of the era. In 1978, the band released their first single, which featured the tracks “Glashaus” and “Wenn die Sterne tanzen”, through the Amiga record label. The group achieved several hits on the DDR-Jahreshitparade, including “Hol über”, which reached number 31 in 1977, and “Der Seiltänzer”, which reached number 36 in 1978. Although Neue Generation disbanded in 1978, their self-titled debut album, Neue Generation, was released in 1979. This final recording produced further hits, such as “Kaffee komplett” and “Torero”. Following the dissolution, Schweda and other members formed Neumis Rock Circus, Kobischke joined Kleeblatt, and Gottschalk pursued a solo career. Members also performed in groups such as Bajazzo in subsequent years.
