Joshua Ryan Topolsky, born October 19, 1977 in Pennsylvania, is an American journalist, record producer, and DJ. Using the stage name Joshua Ryan, he released the single "Doinyourheadin" / "Hush" through Slinkey Recordings in 1998, followed by "Don'tlookback", and the breakthrough track "Pistolwhip" in 1999, which reached number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. His subsequent releases include "Thunderclap" (2000) and "All" / "Ison" (2001). In 2003, he released the album By Design, followed by singles "Fury" (2003), "Buildings Inbetween" (2003), "Damage" (2004), and "Blueness" (2005). Topolsky has also collaborated with his brother Eric Emm as the producing duo, The Brothers, and his work has been licensed by Palm Pictures, Moonshine Music, Ministry of Sound, and Sony Music Entertainment UK. In addition to his music career, Topolsky was the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Verge.
