Horst Günter, born May 23, 1913, in Leipzig, Germany, was a baritone known for his contributions to classical music and opera. He joined the Leipziger Thomanerchor at age nine and completed his singing education at the Konservatorium Leipzig in 1938. His career began as a concert singer, debuting in Bach's Matthäus-Passion in Eisenach in 1937. Günter's operatic debut was at the Staatstheater Schwerin in 1941 as Graf Almaviva in Die Hochzeit des Figaro. Post-war, he resumed his career at the Stadttheater Göttingen and later became a member of the Hamburgische Staatsoper from 1950 to 1961. He also performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Staatsoper Stuttgart. Günter's repertoire included roles such as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte. He passed away on January 7, 2013, in Hamburg.
