The Chalets were a five‑piece alternative rock group from Dublin, Ireland, formed in 2001 and active until their split in 2008; the band comprised Chris Judge on bass, Caoimhe “Pony” Derwin on vocals, Dylan Roche on bongos, Enda Loughman on guitar, and Paula “Peepee” Cullen on vocals, songwriting and lead guitar. Their initial breakthrough came with the split 7‑inch "Two Chord Song" (2003) released on RoadRelish, followed by the double‑A‑side "Theme from Chalets" / "Sexy Mistake" (2004) on Nasty Pop/Setanta, the latter chosen by MTV for an Irish branding campaign. The band’s first CD EP, Nightrock (2004), featured the title track "Nightrocker", which was used worldwide in the trailer for the film Madagascar and later appeared in the video game Outlaw Tennis. In 2005 they released their debut album Check In, accompanied by singles "Feel the Machine" (2005‑06‑26) and "No Style" (2005‑09‑18), and secured the Meteor Music Award for Best New Band in February 2005. The Chalets represented Ireland at the 2005 European Union accession celebrations in Slovenia and composed music for TG4’s IFTA‑winning youth drama Aifric. Their tracks "Theme from Chalets", "Nightrocker" and "Sexy Mistake" were featured on Grey’s Anatomy and the second season soundtrack. On 15 February 2008 the band announced their disbandment via a MySpace blog, citing financial viability, after which Cullen and Derwin formed Talulah Does the Hula and September Girls.
