Harold Wright, born on December 4, 1926 in Wayne, Pennsylvania, was an American clarinetist who began his studies at age twelve. He continued his education at the Curtis Institute of Music under Ralph McLane. Wright's career started with the Houston Symphony and he subsequently became principal clarinetist for the Dallas Symphony and National Symphony in Washington D.C. In 1970, he joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until his death. During this period, Wright was also a prominent chamber musician, performing with notable ensembles such as the Juilliard Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. He recorded extensively, including works like "Mozart Concerto" with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa's direction. Wright also taught at institutions like the Tanglewood Music Center and New England Conservatory. He died on August 11, 1993 in Marlboro, Vermont.
