English pub rock band, The Kursaal Flyers, were formed in Southend-on-Sea, England, in late 1973 by Paul Shuttleworth, Richie Bull, Will Birch, Vic Collins, Graeme Douglas, and Dave Hatfield. The group initially gained experience playing in various local bands before coalescing their diverse influences into a unique sound that blended rock, bluegrass, pop, and country elements. Their name was inspired by a carousel at a local amusement park. The band's breakthrough came with the release of "Little Does She Know" in 1976, which reached number 14 on the UK charts and earned them an appearance on Top of the Pops. After signing with CBS Records, they released their album Golden Mile, produced by Mike Batt. Despite internal conflicts and lineup changes, including the departure of Graeme Douglas, the band continued to tour and release music. However, efforts to replicate the success of "Little Does She Know" were unsuccessful, leading to their eventual disbandment in 1977. The Kursaal Flyers are remembered for their energetic live performances and critical acclaim, though commercial success remained elusive. Post-breakup, members pursued various projects, including Paul Shuttleworth's solo career and Will Birch's work with The Records.
