Eiko Ishibashi is a Japanese singer-songwriter and composer from Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture, known for her eclectic approach to music which includes electronic sounds using field recordings, as well as live instrumentation such as flute and percussion. Starting in 2000, she was a member of the band PANICSMILE, where she played drums and other instruments. Her solo career began with the album Works For Everything in 2006. In 2013, she released Imitation of life on an American record label. Her notable contributions extend into film music; she won the Best Music award at the CineFarma Lisbon International Film Awards for her score for the 2016 movie The Albino Tree. In 2018, she composed for the NHK BS Premium drama Atatamaru Utopia, and in 2021, she scored the internationally acclaimed film Drive My Car. Her collaboration with the film's director, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, led to the creation of a video for her solo live performance GIFT, showcased in Belgium and New York. This collaboration evolved into a film titled Evil Does Not Exist" earning a Silver Lion at the Venice International Film Festival. Her notable releases are Works For Everything (2006), Drifting Devil (2008) and "FOR MCCOY"(2022).
