Jaroslav Krombholc, a Czech conductor, composer and pianist, was born on January 30, 1918 in Prague. He came from a family of musicians and initially studied at Mělník before entering the Prague Conservatory to study conducting and composition from 1937 to 1942. During this period he also trained under Václav Talich. Krombholc began his career as an opera director in Ostrava, later moving to the Theatre Smetana until 1975. He conducted numerous operas, focusing primarily on works by Czech composers. In addition to his conducting and directing roles, Krombholc was also a pianist and composed several pieces. He passed away on July 16, 1983.
