Nicolas Kummert

Nicolas Kummert, born March 12, 1979 in Belgium, is a jazz singer and tenor saxophonist known for his contributions to contemporary jazz. He graduated from the Brussels Conservatory in 2001 under the tutelage of Jeroen Van Herzeele and John Ruocco, and also studied with Fabrizio Cassol. Kummert's early career was marked by several awards, including the Golden Django for best young talent in 2003. His debut album One was released in 2010 under Prova Records, featuring his group Nicolas Kummert Voices alongside Herve Samb and Nicolas Thys. The album included covers such as "Close to You" by The Carpenters and "Monk's Dream" by Thelonious Monk. Subsequent albums include Liberté (2014) and La Diversité (2017). Kummert has collaborated with notable musicians including Manu Dibango, the Alexi Tuomarila Quartet, and Jef Neve's Groove Thing.
