Friedrich Tilegant, born on May 18, 1910, in Anderbeck, Germany, was a conductor and violinist. He studied under Hugo Venus, Fritz Stein, and Paul Hindemith at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, graduating in 1938. During World War II, he conducted military orchestras. Post-war, Tilegant settled in Pforzheim, founding the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim in 1950. The orchestra performed at the Salzburg Festival in 1960 and toured the DDR in 1964. Notable recordings include Brandenburg Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach. Tilegant received an honorary professorship and was awarded the Ring of Honor of the City of Pforzheim in 1967. He passed away from cancer on February 18, 1968.
