German soprano Ruth Ziesak, born on February 9, 1963, in Hofheim am Taunus, is an opera and lieder singer who studied under Elsa Cavelti. She began her career with engagements at the Heidelberg City Theatre and Deutsche Oper am Rhein. After winning multiple awards, including first prizes at the German Music Competition and s’Hertogenbosch Competition, Ziesak performed across Europe and North America in roles such as Pamina in The Magic Flute, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier. Noteworthy appearances include her debut as the Countess in Le nozze de Figaro at the Glyndebourne Festival and as Donna Anna at the Herrenchiemsee Festival. As a concert singer, Ziesak has performed with major orchestras including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, working with conductors like Herbert Blomstedt and Riccardo Muti. She has recorded albums such as Gloria In Excelsis Deo: Festliche Musik Zur Weihnachtszeit (2014), Symphonie No. 9; Mass No.3 (2016), and Messe Solennelle In D Minor (2010).
