Reinhold Friedrich, born July 14, 1958, in Weingarten, Baden, Germany, is a notable trumpeter and educator. Inspired by Bach's 2nd Brandenburg Concerto, he began playing the trumpet at age eight. Friedrich studied under Edward H. Tarr and Pierre Thibaud. His breakthrough came with his 1982 debut performing Luciano Berio’s Sequenza X at the Berliner Festwochen. In 1983, he joined the Radiosinfonieorchester Frankfurt as a solo trumpeter, a position he held until 1999. Friedrich's international recognition grew after winning the International Music Competition of the ARD in 1986. He has performed with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the Bamberger and Wiener Symphoniker and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. In 1989, he was appointed professor of trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. His discography includes notable releases such as Gabrieli for Bass: Venetian Extravaganza (2018).
