Arnaldo Cohen, born on April 22, 1948, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a pianist. He studied piano alongside engineering and violin at the University Federal of Rio de Janeiro. Initially a violinist with the Orquesta de la Casa de Ópera de Río de Janeiro, Cohen shifted to piano, studying under Jacques Klein, Bruno Seidlhofer, and Dieter Weber. In 1972, he won the first prize at the Concurso Internacional de Piano Ferruccio Busoni. Cohen has taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Jacobs School of Music in Indiana, USA. He was appointed Artistic Director of the Portland International Piano Competition in October 2012. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
