Hideki Nagano is a Japanese classical pianist born in 1968 in Nagoya. He began his musical training at age five and later studied at the University of Tokyo under Henriette Puig-Roget. In 1988, Nagano moved to Paris to enroll at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied piano with Jean-Claude Pennetier and vocal accompaniment with Anne Grappotte and Jean Kœrner. He won the second prize at the Concours International de Piano d'Orléans in 1994 and became a formal soloist with the Ensemble intercontemporain in 1995. Nagano is also a member of the Modulations Trio with Odile Auboin and Alain Billard. His recording career includes the 2011 release of Bird Concerto with Pianosong by Jonathan Harvey and the 2013 collection Complete Works by Pierre Boulez. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with composers such as Bruno Mantovani and Yann Robin. Nagano resides in France and continues to perform internationally as a specialist in contemporary classical repertoire.
