Peter Verhoyen is a Belgian classical flutist and piccolo player. He co-founded the chamber music ensemble Arco Baleno and serves as the principal piccolo of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Verhoyen is a professor of piccolo at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where he established the first European piccolo Masters program. He also holds a position as a senior lecturer at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz and organizes the International Flute Seminar Bruges. As a piccolo specialist, he has commissioned and premiered numerous new works, including concertos by Levente Gyöngyösi, Robert Groslot, Erik Desimpelaere, and Bart Watté. His recording career features the piccolo as a central instrument, with albums such as Conversations in 1999, Identities in 2000, Piccolo Tunes in 2006, and Piccolo concerti in 2022. In 2017, he received the Fuga Trofee for his contributions to contemporary Flemish music. Verhoyen was appointed to the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts in 2025.
