Laura Chislett is an Australian flute player who specializes in contemporary classical repertoire. She earned a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a Master of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong. Her recording career began in 1992 with the solo album The Flute Ascendant..., followed by the world premiere recordings found on Chris Dench: Music for Flute in 1993. Chislett has performed as a guest soloist at major festivals such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Sydney Spring Festival. Her repertoire includes performing Brian Ferneyhough's “Unity Capsule” and James Dillon's “Sgothan”, as well as Michael Smetanin's flute concerto “Shakhmat/Supremat” with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Her discography continued with Flute Impressions in 1994 and The Flute in Orbit in 1995. Since 2014, she has held the position of Adjunct Academic at the University of New South Wales. Recent projects include the 2015 album Flute Vox and the 2024 collaborative release with Edward Cowie titled In Two Minds.
