Stephanie McCallum, born on March 3, 1956 in Sydney, Australia, is a classical pianist known for her extensive repertoire. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and gave her debut concert at Wigmore Hall in 1982. Upon returning to Australia, she co-founded contemporary ensembles austraLYSIS and the Sydney Alpha Ensemble. McCallum has performed with major Australian symphony orchestras and ensembles. She is notable for giving the first complete public performance of Alkan's Trois grandes études, Op. 76 in 1985 and premiering Elena Kats-Chernin's first piano concerto, "Displaced Dances," with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 2000. McCallum has released numerous solo CDs, including recordings of works by Erik Satie, Ludwig van Beethoven, Charles-Valentin Alkan, Franz Liszt, and Robert Schumann. She continues to teach at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as an associate professor in piano.
