The New Century Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1992 by cellist Miriam Perkoff and violist Wieslaw Pogorzelski in the San Francisco Bay Area. Stuart Canin served as the first music director from 1992 to 1999, followed by Krista Bennion Feeney from 1999 to 2006. Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg took over from 2008 to 2017, and British violinist Daniel Hope became the music director in 2017. The orchestra has released seven albums, including Together (November 2009), LIVE: Barber, Strauss, Mahler (November 2010), and A to Z: 21st Century Concertos (May 2014). Recordings also include a collaborative project with Kent Nagano and the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra featuring Frank Martin's work in 1996. The orchestra has performed in cities including Berkeley, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and San Rafael.
