Alex Masi, born on May 14, 1960 in Venice, is an Italian guitarist. He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Verona and began his career in the early 1980s by moving to London, where he played with musicians from the NWOBHM scene. In 1984, Masi formed the heavy rock group Dark Lord, releasing two EPs before joining Sound Barrier in Los Angeles in 1986. His first album under his own name was Fire in the Rain (1987), followed by Downtown Dreamers (1988). His subsequent solo album Attack of the Neon Shark (1989), which received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Album. Masi released several notable albums, including the classical-influenced trilogy In the Name of Bach (1999), In the Name of Mozart (2003), and In the Name of Beethoven (2005). He has collaborated with numerous artists, including John Macaluso and Randy Coven.
