Santiago del Nuevo Extremo, a Chilean musical ensemble formed in 1977 in Santiago de Chile, initially comprised Luis Le-Bert, Pedro Villagra, Julio Castillo, and Sebastián Dahm. The group emerged from the Faculty of Anthropology at the University of Chile, evolving from an acoustic vocal ensemble with jazz Latin influences to a fusion of diverse modern instruments. Their debut album, A mi ciudad, was released in 1981 under the Alerce label, followed by Hasta encontrarnos in 1983 and Barricadas in 1985. In 1984, during their first European tour, they received the keys to the city of Liverpool for their artistic excellence. The band disbanded in September 1986 but reunited periodically, releasing albums such as Leuda (2011) and Santiago del Nuevo Extremo (2016).
