Alexei Volodin, a Russian pianist born on June 17, 1977, in Leningrad. At age nine, he studied at St.Petersburg, then continued at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow under Irina Chaklina and Tatiana Selikman, later continuing his education at the Moscow Conservatory with Elisso Virsaladze. Volodin's breakthrough came in 2003 when he won the first prize at the 9th Concours Géza Anda in Zürich. His debut recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in May 2005 was a success, which led to invitations for subsequent seasons. He has performed with orchestras such as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, collaborated with conductors including Christopher Hogwood and Valery Gergiev.
