Thomas Rückert is a German jazz pianist and composer born in 1970 in Würzburg. He began piano lessons at age seven and later added saxophone and drums to his repertoire. Rückert studied at the Musikhochschule Köln under Rainer Brüninghaus and John Taylor. Between 1991 and 2000, he traveled to India, Africa, and North America to study music. His discography included the studio recordings Debut (2002), Dust of Doubt (2004), and Blue in Green (2006), which featured his brother Jochen Rückert on drums. He performed at festivals such as the Istanbuler Jazztagen and Audi-Jazz-Festival. Rückert collaborated with musicians including Lee Konitz, Ed Kröger, and Mark Murphy. He released the duo recording Jnana (2008) with Johannes Lemke and the trio albums Meera (2013) and Parvaneh (2015). Rückert began teaching at the Folkwang Universität der Künste and the Hochschule Osnabrück.
