Marian Petrescu, born on June 25, 1970 in Bucharest, Romania, is a jazz pianist. Coming from a musical family, Petrescu began playing the piano at age four. He moved to Sweden in the 1980s and studied at the Stockholm Conservatory before continuing his education at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. His professional debut came at the Pori Jazz festival when he was just 15 years old. Petrescu's career includes collaborations with notable artists such as Antti Sarpila, James Morrison, Arturo Sandoval, Toots Thielemans, and Al Jarreau. He has performed at prestigious festivals including Jazz Baltica, Montreux Jazz Festival, and North Sea Jazz Festival. His discography includes Pianist (1986) and Body And Soul (2006). In 2010, Petrescu received a Grammy Award for his work with the Resonance Big Band.
