Larry Bright, born Julian Ferebee Bright, on August 17, 1934, was an American blues and rockabilly singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Norfolk, Virginia. Influenced by Texas blues after spending part of his youth in Corpus Christi, he served in the U.S. Navy before settling in California. Discovered by producer Joe Saraceno, he scored a minor Billboard Hot 100 hit with "Mojo Workout" in 1960, peaking at number 90. Bright subsequently recorded for Rendezvous, Tide, and Del-Fi Records, releasing singles including "Twinkie-Lee," "Surfin' Queen," and "When I Did the Mashed Potatoes with You." Although never a major commercial success, he earned a reputation as a dynamic performer and continued recording blues and rock and roll throughout the 1960s. He passed away on December 17, 2003 in California.
