Pamelia Verle Stickney (born May 28, 1976) is an American electronic, classical, and contemporary classical theremin player, composer, and author from Los Angeles. A former jazz bassist, Stickney developed the “walking bass” theremin technique and served as the primary test musician for the final design of Robert Moog’s Etherwave Pro Theremin. Her recording career began with the 1999 Geggy Tah album Into the Oh, followed by the collaboration Gymnopedia (2000) as a member of The Kurstins. Her solo discography includes Thinking Out Loud (2007), Promotional Copy (2013), and Transcendental Dissonance (2017). Stickney collaborated with artists including David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, and Ulver. In 2013, she formed the trio Blueblut, releasing the albums hurts so gut (2014) and buttbutt (2016). Stickney has been based in Vienna and has presented talks at TED.
