Patrick Pulsinger was born on 3 June 1970 in Weißenfels, East Germany, and later relocated to Austria, where he established himself as a DJ, producer, and label operator. After moving to Vienna in 1988, he escaped conscription in 1992 by fleeing to New York City, where he met DJ Hell and began producing electronic music; his first releases appeared on Cheap Records, founded with Erdem Tunakan in 1993, under various pseudonyms such as Sluts’n'Strings & 909 and Lazermusic. He released Dogmatic Sequences II in 1994 and the Impassive Skies album in 2010, which showcased his evolving sound; the 2011 collaborative Besides Feldman with Pamelia Kurstin, Hilary Jeffery, and Rozemarie Heggen further expanded his discography. Pulsinger’s remix work includes reinterpretations of tracks by Ken Ishii, Beanfield, Tosca, Jaydee, Die Sterne, Yoshinori Sunahara, Die Goldenen Zitronen, Chicks on Speed, Mense Reents, and the Pet Shop Boys. His avant‑garde project dp‑S toured China in 2004, and in 2013 he curated the program for Vienna’s Popfest. In 2014 he received the City of Vienna Music Prize.
