Teresa Graves, born Theresa Graves on January 10, 1948, in Houston, Texas, was an American singer who moved to Los Angeles at age five. Her vocal talent secured her a spot in the Doodletown Pipers after high school graduation in 1966. She recorded her self-titled album Teresa Graves in 1970. Graves' acting career included roles in variety shows and films, with her most notable role as undercover police detective Christie Love in the ABC crime-drama television series Get Christie Love! (1974–1975). She was the second African-American female to star in a non-stereotypical role for a U.S. drama television series. In 1983, Graves retired from show business to devote her time to her faith as a Jehovah's Witness. On October 10, 2002, she died at the age of 54 due to injuries sustained in a house fire caused by a faulty space heater.
